Acid & Chemical Resistant Brick & Tile Linings for Flooring, Pickle Tanks, Tank Linings & a Wide Industry Sector
Using only the best materials and the most experienced staff, Prokem can install brick based protection systems that are second to none.
Using chemically resistant floor tiles, pavers and complementary products, Prokem can provide durable and trouble-free flooring which is resistant to most acids and other chemicals. Their high density, impact resistance and abrasion resistance are able to stand up to heavy trucking, high point-loading and substantial impact. Prokem International chemical and abrasion resistant pavers also withstand the shock of steam-cleaning or accidental spillage of hot materials.
The pavers are available with smooth or non-skid surfaces. The smooth paver provides a floor with sufficient tractive resistance for most purposes, even under wet conditions.
Prokem chemical and abrasion resistant pavers are ideal for heavy-duty flooring and bunds in all industries. They have been used in a wide variety of applications. Extensive use has been made of them in the petrochemical, parmaceutical and other chemical industries. The pavers are also to be found resisting the aggressive chemicals of many dye-stuffs ad fibre companies. Daries, breweries and manufacurers of other foods and beverages find that the pavers also stand up to the heavy trucking and steam cleaning common to their industries. The strength and durability of the pavers are put to an extreme test in withstanding the chemical attack and mechanical damage prevalent in the metallurgical industry and, in particular, on the floor areas of steel pickling lines.
Prokem protects surfaces by means of:
- Synthetic resin surfacings:
Monolithic coatings cover a wide range of surface protection applications. Concrete as well as steel surfaces are protected by monolithic coatings. The following reactive resins and plastics are mainly used:
- Epoxy resins (EP)
- Epoxy tar mixtures (EP-T)
- Furane resins (FU)
- Phenol formaldehyde resins (PF)
- Polyurethane resins (PUR), hard or elastic
- Unsaturated polyester resins (UP)
- Vinylester resins (VE)
Prokem supply a multitude of materials for special coating systems. The required properties of the respective protection system can be obtained by modification of the bonding agent, use of different filling and reinforcing materials, as well as particular material combinations. The properties refer to chemical resistance, thermal and mechalical stress, plasticity, surface structure, colour, electrostatic discharge, decontamination properties etc.
- Rubber linings:
Self-Vulcanising soft rubber linings with pre-fabricated sheets based on chloroprene and butyl rubber are applied in situ onto steel or concrete surfaces by Prokem. In the case of increased chemical, thermal or mechanical stress, an additional layer of ceramic or carbon bricks are to be applied.
- Brick linings:
Despite the large variety of impervious membranes available made from duroplastics, emastomers and thermoplastics, the use of these materials is limited regarding certain operating conditions..
Restricting factors can be temperature, mechanical stress and long-term resistance to certain chemicals. In these cases the impervious membrane must be comined with a ceramic or carbon tile brick layer on top.
For laying and jointing of the tile or brick linings Prokem utilise approved materials.
In processing plants with extreme service conditions only a combination lining provides efficient protection against corrosion.
